Each year the SkillShare board considers all the organization’s members and their various contribution to the health and success of the association in order to select a single individual as the SkillShare Member of the Year. For 2010, the winner is Jan DeCourtney.
Among Jan’s many contributions to SkillShare is the painstaking and thoughtful revision she did on our very important Member Manual. Now it offers members easy access to thorough and clear instructions about:

- Whom to contact about which problem, question, or concern
- Proper protocol for making and recording exchanges
- General information on how to operate successfully in the SkillShare arena.

Jan has thrown herself into working with SkillShare because she believes it is “a great idea whose time has come.” According to Howard Lambert, one of the founders of our organization and still a valuable member with his finger on its pulse, “More than any other member, Jan knows how to help the community by supporting a community nonprofit. She is the managing director of the Stoll Foundation, and earns hours by working for this organization.”
Former board President Robin Wellman said, “like many SkillShare members, Jan DeCourtney has credited SkillShare with a great turn-around in her life, and enhanced energy for giving to others.” Perhaps this is why she, in Howard’s words, “excels in making exchanges. Believe it or not, in 2010 she earned almost 1,300 hours and spent almost 600.”
The SkillShare board is proud to publicize the winning of the 2010 award for Member of the Year to member extraordinaire Jan DeCourtney!
